PANOLA COUNTY, Texas — A Shreveport man accused of fatally shooting Panola County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chris Dickerson has been brought to Texas to face capital murder charges.

Gregory Dewayne Newson, 47, is currently being held in the Gregg County Jail. His bond has been set at $3 million.

123rd District Judge LeAnn Kay Rafferty, in a closed hearing Thursday afternoon in Panola County, set Newson's bond and put a restrictive and protective order on the case that limits those involved in the case from speaking to the media about it.
