Officials able to contain fire at old The Blue Store building in Tyler

The fire was at the old The Blue Store building and the existing store was not damaged. It is unknown how the fire started.

TYLER, Texas — Officials were able to contain a fire that broke out at the old The Blue Store building in Tyler Monday evening. 

According to the Smith County Emergency Services District 2, "firefighters were out of the station in less than 90 seconds and were able to contain the fire to one side of the building."

The fire was at the old The Blue Store building which is now a storage building but does have an outdoor grilling area. According to Smith County Fire Marshall Chad Hogue, the preliminary cause of the fire is cooking related however the incident is still under investigation. 

Hogue estimates that due to their quick response only twenty percent of the building was damaged. There were no injuries reported.
