Longview hosts 'Friends of the Library' book sale to raise funds, resell used novels

The event kicked off Wednesday and will continue through Thursday with a buy one, get one free event from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

LONGVIEW, Texas — It's never too late to add a book to your summer reading list. An East Texas library is hosting a book sale for all those book worms out there looking to snag a deal on their next read.

This week, the Longview Public Library is hosting its annual Friends of the Library book sale.

Items for sale include: books, DVDs, even Legos and much more.  Supplies are donated to the library from community members and from hand-me-downs from the Longview Public Library's personal collection of novels that have been in circulation for a while.

Organizers say the event is part of a fundraiser, which will go directly to the library to provide expenses for future events and in turn help the people of Longview.

"All these funds will help us continue doing those events and also do updates to the library," Longview library technical services supervisor Leah Shreves said. "All this money helps go toward those items and help keep things free for the community to do here at the library.”

The event kicked off Wednesday and will continue through Thursday with a buy one, get one free event from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

On Friday, they will be having a fill a bag for $1 or box for $2 event from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
