Downtown Longview parking garage project moves forward

The county previously chose Selma-based construction services firm SpawGlass to lead the project.

LONGVIEW, Texas — Permitting has begun for Gregg County's planned new four-story parking facility in downtown Longview.

The county previously chose Selma-based construction services firm SpawGlass to lead the project. A permit the company filed with the city of Longview this month says the project would consist of a "4 story cast-in-place parking garage with office space on level 1."

Voters in November approved a proposal allowing Gregg County to borrow up to $19 million to build the facility in a lot the county already owns across the street from the courthouse on Methvin Street. The vote followed years of debate about how to address parking woes around the courthouse and in downtown Longview.
