BULLARD, Texas — David and Drew Sims have been pushing each other all through high school. Next week, they'll share the experience of walking the stage to receive their diplomas as valedictorian and salutatorian at The Brook Hill School in Bullard.
David Sims came out on top as valedictorian, while his twin brother Drew earned the number two rank of salutatorian for the Class of 2024.
"I want to be the best person I can be, and I want my brother to be the best he can be. So we’re going to push each other to do our best," Drew Sims said.
The twins said they got their hardworking mentality from their parents, and so did their sister.
"After my sister was salutatorian, I was like I can’t be lower than that. That was a goal of mine and I did it," David Sims said.
The next goal for the twins is to ace the next phase of their education. The brothers will be attending the University of Virginia together.
"We’re just excited for change," Drew said.
But the Sims brothers said one thing that will never change is the bond they share.
"If someone asks us a question, we will say yes at the exact same time. We’ve done the color thing where if you think of a color and we will say the same color," David said.
Drew added it's "super special" to have someone by his side all the time.
David and Drew will both major in economics at the University of Virginia with career aspirations of having their own private equity firm in the future.
The Sims will walk across the stage for their diploma on May 18.
