Several counties under flash flood watch, TxDOT monitoring low roads in Deep East Texas

As Tropical Depression Imelda continues to move up from the south, heavy rain and storms will be likely across parts of East Texas, in particular Deep East Texas.

LUFKIN, Texas — There are several counties under a flash flood watch ahead of rain from what's left of Imelda:

  • Sabine County
  • Nacogdoches County
  • Shelby County
  • Angelina County
  • San Augustine County 
  • Cherokee County
  • Harrison County
  • Rusk County
  • Smith County
  • Gregg County
  • Marion County
  • Panola County

All watches will last until 7 a.m. Friday.

In Polk County, TxDOT is reporting high water in the area of Farm-to-Market Road 352. 

The Lufkin District of the Texas Department of Transportation released a list of road being monitored ahead of expected heavy rains over the next two days.

Drivers should always use extreme caution when driving through area with possible high water and should never drive through water.

As roads close, TxDOT will set up barricades to block off danger areas. TxDOT wants to remind drivers it is illegal to drive past a barricade.
