CBS19 WEATHER: Triple digit heat is back in East Texas!

Check out the latest forecast from the CBS19 Weather Experts.

TYLER, Texas — Good morning East Texas,

We did it East Texas!  Like it or not, yesterday was the first triple digit day of 2024. And we're forecasted to do it again today.  The heat and humidity could push the "Feels Like" temperature to 110 or higher. That's why the National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning through 8PM.

Here's your forecast:

TODAY:

An Excessive Heat Warning is blazing across our area until 8 pm tonight. Temperatures in the 80s early Tuesday are a springboard to extreme heat this afternoon.  High temperatures will touch the century mark this afternoon, with areas closer to Dallas warming even more.  The high humidity will send heat index values into the 110 to 115 range.  The risk of heat related illnesses will be high today.  Make sure to take frequent breaks from the heat and check on your pets and children, as they are more sensitive to heat than the average adult.

TOMORROW:

It will be another warm Wednesday in East Texas.  Temperatures will hang in the low 80s around sunrise and climb to 99 by the afternoon.  Humidity will once again kick feel like temperatures into the triple digits  As of this morning, no heat alerts have been issued for Wednesday, but there is a high likelihood that we'll see one tomorrow.

FOURTH OF JULY:

Your Fourth of July is almost here, and the good news is that it will be a dry day and evening for fireworks show and outdoor celebrations. Expect temperatures to climb near 100 degrees under a sky full of sun. Remember to drink water, wear sunscreen and take breaks from the heat as you enjoy time outdoors.  Even as the sun sets and it's time for firework shows, temperatures will still likely be in the mid to upper 80s around 9 PM.
