CBS19 WEATHER: Summer's final Friday or should we say, fry-day.

Check out the latest forecast from the CBS19 Weather Experts.

TYLER, Texas — Good morning East Texas,

We are making run at the record temperature today! The afternoon is forecasted to make it to 99 degrees, and the record high is only three degrees warmer at 102.  That comes on the heals of yesterday's near record temperature of 97-degrees. That was just one degree off the record high of 98!  You can thank a large heat ridge that is making its way across the piney woods this weekend.  The heat will ease a bit next week with small chances for rain and highs gradually cooling off into the 80s by the middle of next week.

Here's your forecast:

TODAY:

Summer is going out with a bang. A southwest wind will tap into hot air over Central Texas and usher in highs near 100-degrees.  Factor in the humidity and we'll see our heat index soar into the 100 to 103 range Friday afternoon. That provides a moderate heat risk that will impact sensitive groups, like our pets and children.  It's going to the hottest Friday night for Under The Lights, so dress for warm weather and remember to drink plenty of water before you head out to the game.

THE WEEKEND:

It's a scorcher of a weekend.  Saturday will be another near record high.  That's when the forecasted high is 98, which is only two degrees below the record of 100.  Sunday will still be warm as the high approaches 94.  That comes ahead of a weak cold front.  The front will reach the Piney Woods on Monday and shave a few degrees off of the highs early next week.
