TYLER, Texas — The Great American Eclipse is fast approaching and up until April 8, CBS19 will give you facts to know about the upcoming eclipse.
The partial eclipse begins at roughly 12:24 p.m. Totality will begin at roughly 1:42 p.m. for Canton, Van and Emory. Tyler will go into totality at 1:43 p.m. and remain in totality for just under two minutes.
The solar eclipse is the first total solar eclipse in the continental United States since August 2017. The path of that eclipse stretch from the Pacific Northwest to the Southeastern U.S.
The next total solar eclipse in the continental United States won't be until Aug. 23, 2044.
Tyler Junior College Science Center Director Beau Hartweg said the next one in Tyler won't happen until the year 2343.
