WEEK 6 GOTW: Gladewater Preview

Gladewater looks to bounce back and secure a win this Friday when they travel to play Sabine.

GLADEWATER, Texas — The Gladewater Bears are 2-3 this season, most recently coming off a loss to Jefferson 41-12, however, Coach Louvier is optimistic about his team.

He expressed that his team is young, but they've grown a lot this season so far. That being said, he wants the some of the players become better leaders, since they're young.

Now that the Bears are in district play, there's been a slight shift in their program to prepare them better for the upcoming schedule.

"You kind of have three seasons, you have your preseason, district, and then your postseason. So we have, we've changed a little bit, but we're really trying to stay as consistent as possible and keep our kids engaged and doing the same stuff," said Coach Louvier. "We're at the point now where we're starting to add little wrinkles to this pass play or to this run play, but we just have to be able to execute that."

Gladewater is led by junior quarterback Luke Brown. However, last week against Jefferson, Brown was injured and taken to the ER after taking a tough hit.

Thankfully, he was diagnosed with bruised ribs and nothing broken. That being said, Brown is questionable to start this Friday, but he's eager to play regardless.

The Bears will travel to Sabine for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off.
