The Tyler City Council announced their unanimous approval for a partnership with Bass Pro Outdoor World to boost local economy.

A press release from the city of Tyler shows the city council approved a vote to work alongside Bass Pro Outside World to develop economic and infrastructural resources within the community. Bass Pro Shop confirmed their plans to build a location in Tyler last week. This agreement would provide a sales tax rebate for the business as long as they meet the following performance criteria:

  • $22 million in sales during their first year
  • A 2% growth in sales annually for seven years

That rebate incentive will be capped at $1.5 million over seven years, according to the city of Tyler.

As part of the agreement, Tyler will provide a $1.7 million investment to build Bass Pro Way, previously planned to be Settler's Landing Drive. This road will connect South Broadway to Cumberland Village and Centennial Drive to further promote access and improve the shopping experience for residents. The city of Tyler added that as part of the project, Bass Pro must create 90 new permanent jobs with an average salary of $45,000

"This strategic partnership solidifies Tyler's position as a premier retail destination in the region and underscores the City Council's commitment to leveraging commercial opportunities to enhance community infrastructure," a spokesperson for the city of Tyler said. "By facilitating easy access to the new Bass Pro Outdoor World location and improving local roadways, the city of Tyler is set to enjoy a boost in tourism and retail activity, promising economic benefits for the community and local businesses."
