TRINITY COUNTY, Texas — The Trinity County Sheriff's Office is looking for two men accused of stealing items from a local deer lease.
Sheriff Woody Wallace says TSCO began searching for two men who ran into the woods near on US 287 near the Trinity and Polk County line Wednesday. Polk County officials and Texas Department of Criminal Justice tracking dogs are also on scene to assist in the search.
According to Wallace, the TCSO received a report of a theft in progress on a deer lease Wednesday. Officials arrived at the scene and reportedly witnessed one man on a tractor and another on a side-by-side attempting to leave the property. Both suspects drove a short distance in the vehicles before running into the woods nearby.
One suspect was arrested Wednesday. Deputies are still searching for the remaining man. Wallace said the suspects stole several generators and chainsaws, but all property has now been recovered.
