Rusk man dies after getting ejected from vehicle in Cherokee County

Police say the investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.

RUSK, Texas — A Rusk man is dead following a single car wreck Thursday night in Cherokee County. 

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday night James Burns, 36, was driving south on US ighway 69 near Rusk when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.

Burns was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police say the investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.
