President Donald Trump has declared Sunday, March 15, as the National Day of Prayer amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The president took to Twitter on Friday to make the announcement to his 73.9 million followers.
The declaration comes as the coronavirus sweeps across the United States.
East Texas is among the many areas across the nation that has been hit by the virus.
Smith County has recorded three cases and Gregg County has recorded one as of Saturday.
President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence led a White House Coronavirus Task Force press briefing Saturday afternoon and the president confirmed he has taken the coronavirus test. When asked when he expected to received results, he said he isn't sure but possibly in a day or two.
President Trump invoked emergency powers on Friday as the country works to contain the coronavirus outbreak. The president says the White House is considering other travel restrictions within the United States and says they are working with the states on that measure. Vice President Pence said all travel from the United Kingdom and Ireland has been suspended, effective midnight on Monday.
