DOCUMENTS: Teenager killed in drive-by shooting in Longview wasn't intended target

According to an affidavit, O'Quinn shot at the home after he got into a heated argument the day before with a person, who the victim was sitting on the porch.

LONGVIEW, Texas — The teenager who was killed in an Aug. 6 drive-by shooting in Longview was not the intended target, arrest documents show.

Ja'Michael Devorea O'Quinn, 19, of Longview, is charged with murder in connection with the death of a teen in the 100 block of Hubbard Drive.

According to an arrest affidavit, O'Quinn shot at the home after he got into a heated argument the day before with a person, who the victim was sitting with on the porch.

The document states an officer found the teen with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The person sitting on the porch next to the teen was the intended target. That man told police he saw a car drive by, two men exit that vehicle and then they started shooting.

According to the affidavit, the man on the porch said on Aug. 5, O'Quinn said he was going to shoot his house up. The man said the only issue he had with O'Quinn is that he didn't want O'Quinn at his house.

The man's cousin told police that the man was upset about her being "cool" with O'Quinn. On Aug. 5, the cousin said there was an argument between the man and O'Quinn, and the man said they could just fight and not involve guns.

Once the victim was pronounced dead, O'Quinn was booked into the Gregg County Jail on a murder charge. In addition to murder, he is also charged with unlawful carrying weapon and fleeing a police officer. His bonds total $257,000.
