NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, Texas — The man charged with murder in Sunday's shooting in Nacogdoches County has confessed and has been served with additional warrants.
According to Nacogdoches County Sheriff Jason Bridges, Victor Torres, 19, has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in addition to his murder charge. He will be arraigned Tuesday afternoon on the new charges filed against him.
Sheriff Bridges says the suspect used a .22 caliber semi-automatic rifle during the shooting and was dressed in all camouflage with a mask.
Torres was arrested for shooting at five men who were building a horse barn at a residence on Sandyland Circle, just before 9 a.m.
One person was able to escape unharmed, according to Sheriff Bridges. Jose Rojo-Velasco, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The three other victims were taken to Nacogdoches County hospitals for treatment. Two of them have been released and one remains in ICU.
Torres confessed to investigators that he had an ongoing issue with one of the victims. However, investigators have not found any substantial evidence of any previous issues relating to the victims and the suspect.
Sheriff Bridges says investigators believe the attack could be a case of mistaken identity.
Torres remains in the Nacogdoches County Jail with a set bond at $1 million.
