Lake Tyler, Lake Tyler East boat ramps reopened after being temporarily closed due to rising water level

The City of Tyler Water Utilities cited boating hazards resulting from debris that has washed into the lakes from recent rain.

TYLER, Texas — Update: The City of Tyler has reopened public boat ramps on Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East.

The City of Tyler Water Utilities announced Tuesday that they are temporarily closing all public boat ramps on Lake Tyler and Lake Tyler East.

In a press release, they cited boating hazards resulting from debris that has washed into the lakes from recent rain, and crews are taking measures to reduce damage from shoreline erosion caused by boat wakes.

During this time, the lakes are closed to boat traffic from lake residents.

While the ramps are closed until further notice, Tyler Water Utilities said they expect the ramps to reopen once the lake levels recede.
