Kilgore College, UT Tyler sign agreement to allow students to co-enroll at both institutions

This memorandum will give students an opportunity to co-enroll at both institutions.

KILGORE, Texas — Kilgore College and UT Tyler signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday that will create a new pathway for students from Kilgore College to UT Tyler.

This agreement will give students an opportunity to co-enroll at both institutions. Students who attend Kilgore College will take a majority of their classes at Kilgore College, but will be eligible to enroll in three credit hours per semester at UT Tyler.

“Concurrent enrollment will facilitate a smoother transition for students who plan to transfer from Kilgore College to UT Tyler. It will also simplify the transfer process, ensuring students have the necessary prerequisites and credits to seamlessly continue their education at UT Tyler," said Dr. Tracy Skopek, vice president of instruction at Kilgore College said.

Students who complete the requirements will receive a bachelor's degree from UT Tyler. The credits earned at UT Tyler can also be applied toward an associate’s degree from KC, meaning participating students can earn two college degrees in just four years.

“We are delighted to expand our longtime partnership with Kilgore College and create this co-enrollment plan to better serve students in and around the Kilgore College district,” Dr. Amir Mirmiran, UT Tyler provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, said. “By working together and offering co-advising, students will have a much clearer picture of their degree plan, which will, in turn, help reduce the time and the cost for their four-year degree completion.”
