Henderson ISD to accept resignation of Superintendent Dr. Thurston Lamb

An agenda released by the Henderson ISD Board of Trustees shows the committee plans to accept the resignation of Lamb, who has served Henderson ISD since 2019.

HENDERSON, Texas — A special meeting of the Henderson ISD Board of Trustees will be held Tuesday to accept the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Thurston Lamb.

An agenda released by the Henderson ISD Board of Trustees shows the committee plans to accept the resignation of Lamb, who has served Henderson ISD since 2019. He has worked as an educator for 25 years.

He was named Region 7 Education Service Center Superintendent of the Year in 2022. 

During his time as an educator, Lamb has worked at every administrative level in districts such as Crowley, DeSoto, Duncanville, Garland, Plano, and Richardson. He also taught undergraduate and gradate level courses at Concordia University in Austin and the University of Phoenix.

Lamb was raised in rural Arkansas, and joined the U.S. Marine Corps after graduating from high school. During his time in the Marine Corps, he served in Desert Storm. He earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Central Arkansas before earning his master's degree in education from Texas A&M - Commerce and a doctorate in educational leadership from Capella University.

The board will meet Tuesday, June 18 at 5:30 p.m. in the Henderson ISD Administration Boardroom to accept his resignation.
