GLADEWATER, Texas — Gladewater ISD now has an official full-time superintendent.
Rae Ann Patty, who has worked at both Texarkana and Waskom ISDs, was named GISD's official leader after the district has had an interim leader since the resignation of Sedric Clark in July. Clark, who was with Gladewater ISD for seven years, resigned to work for the Texas Education Agency. Former Superintendent Mike Morrison served as the interim officeholder until Patty was chosen.
Patty has dedicated 28 years to the field of education, demonstrating a passion for fostering learning and growth in students and educators alike. She began as a teacher, but she grew as a leader to be an assistant principal, principal, curriculum coordinator, assistant superintendent and ultimately superintendent.
"As an educator and administrator, Mrs. Patty has always believed in the power of community, both within schools and across the districts she has served," the announcement read.
She is a respected leader, a loving wife and mother, and an advocate for lifelong learning. GISD said her career is a testament to her dedication to improving education and making positive impacts on the lives of students and educators alike.
