TYLER, Texas — The East Texas Crisis Center was awarded $500,000 from the U.S. Department of Justice to support domestic violence survivors.
U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) announced on Monday that the funding comes from the DOJ's Office on Violence Against Women to help the ETCC provide transitional housing, job training and counseling.
“October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Texas is fortunate to have so many organizations, including the East Texas Crisis Center, who work tirelessly year-round to support survivors of domestic violence and abuse,” Cornyn said. “This funding will provide vital resources to help countless survivors in East Texas find a path to hope and healing.”
