Community support pours in for family of Tyler business owner following deadly shooting

On Monday, support poured in over social media and at Junior's Taqueria from community members remembering the longtime owner Heriberto "Eddie" Ramirez.

TYLER, Texas — Last week, the co-owner of Junior's Taqueria in Tyler was shot and killed at his own business. On Monday, officials are continuing to investigate how an argument turned into a deadly shooting.

Heriberto “Eddie” Ramirez shot and killed Friday afternoon at the business after police say an argument led to a deadly shooting. Scottie Lee Goble was arrested and charged with murder.

Junior’s has been a staple in the Tyler community for nearly two decades. The family-owned and operated business was passed down from Ramirez's father to him and his brother, Edgar.

Neighbors who own the business next door to Junior’s, and opened around the same time said the family ran the taqueria six days a week and Ramirez was always there.

He was known as a hard-working, family man whose life was tragically taken too soon.

“It was during a physical altercation that Scottie Goble shot Heriberto with the pistol. He was taken to a local hospital where he died of his injuries,” said Andy Erbaugh, spokesperson for the Tyler Police Department. “This is not a random type case."

On Monday, support poured in over social media and at the restaurant from community members who are paying tribute to the longtime owner of Junior's. People placed flowers at the doorstep of the taco shop as a tribute to Ramirez.

Community members are still searching for answers.

“I don't have a reason why or what was happening during that altercation to cause that,” Erbaugh said. “The argument started inside the business and it spilled out into the parking lot or the front area of the business where the physical altercation occurred. It just went from inside to outside, and then that's where the shooting occurred."

Junior's has since closed its doors temporarily as the family continues to grieve the loss of their loved one.

“God placed it in my heart to pray for the family,” passerby Crystal Gandaria said.

Gandaria felt moved to show up at the tribute site Monday after hearing about the loss this family is going through. She says it’s important to pray for all involved in this situation.

CBS19 reached out to Eddie’s brother and business partner Edgar Ramirez, who was not ready to speak, and said his family is still trying to process what happened.

The business remains closed at this time. Goble has since posted bond.
