City of Lindale declares local disaster amid coronavirus outbreak

The city will close and limit city activities until April 16.

LINDALE, Texas — The City of Lindale issued a declaration of a local disaster Tuesday due to COVID-19 (coronavirus).

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the virus a global pandemic. In addition to this, both the United States and the state of Texas have declared states of emergency.

The disaster declaration activates the city's Emergency Management Plan and will remain in effect for the next 30 days.

The city will close and limit city activities until April 16.

  • Tourism Offices (closed)
  • Parrot Museum (entire facility is closed)
  • Kinizie Community Center (entire facility closed)
  • Pickers Pavillion (entire facility closed)
  • Faulkner Park (entire facility closed)
  • Pool Park (closed)
  • Darden Harvest Park: dog park are closed

Mayor Jeff Daugherty would also encourages the public to follow the CDC recommendations for gatherings.

Smith and Gregg Counties have also issued a declaration of a local disaster.
