BULLARD, Texas — The Brook Hill School announced Wednesday four students were recently named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Soohyeon Kim, Terry Kim, Jackson Locker and Kamsi Ofochebe are four of only 34,000 Commended Students that are recognized nationwide for exceptional academic promise.
“Our National Merit Commended Scholars have exemplified what it means to pursue excellence with passion and perseverance,” commented Upper School Principal, Matthew Beasley. “Their recognition is a testament to their dedication, intellectual curiosity, and the hard work they have invested in their learning. These students not only set the bar high for academic achievement but also inspire their peers to aim higher and dream bigger. We are immensely proud of their accomplishments and excited to celebrate this milestone with them.”
Although they will not continue in the 2024 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
