POLICE: 22-year-old man arrested after Jacksonville robbery left woman dead

Police said Friday that the motive appears to have been a robbery of Wilson's home. All three suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

JACKSONVILLE, Texas — A 22-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection with an August shooting that left a Jacksonville woman dead.

Treon Oneal Scott, of Alto, is charged with capital murder in connection with the Aug. 17 death of Clara Deane Wilson, 29. of Jacksonville, in the 400 block of Gillespie Ave. Scott was booked into the Cherokee County Jail without bond.

In August, two juveniles were charged with murder in connection with Wilson's death. Neither of the children's names have been released at this time because they are under 18.

Police said Friday that the motive appears to have been a robbery of Wilson's home. All three suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting. According to an arrest affidavit, Scott admitted that he was present during the robbery and was an active participant as well.

When officials arrived on scene on Aug. 17, they found Wilson dead from an apparent gunshot wound.

“I’m appreciative of the investigative efforts by all the detectives involved in this case. Their resilience is a direct reflection of their dedication to their community and the prioritization of safety of the public. While nothing can bring Clara back, I do pray this arrest helps bring some closure to her family,"  Police Chief Joe Williams said.
