Downtown Tyler flower shop offers unique new subscription service

TYLER, Texas — As life gets busy, people sometimes forget about important life events. But an East Texas flower shop is offering a unique solution that's already taking root.

The mother-daughter duo Meagan Lissner and Paige McGuffey are co-owners of Moss, a local flower shop in downtown Tyler. Their shop has been open for 11 years but Lissner said their love for flowers was planted long before Moss opened.

"I did flowers in high school and just loved flowers and kept getting opportunities to grow and do flowers," Lissner said. "My mom and I wanted to open the shop. In 2012, we started researching fair-trade flowers and local flowers and that was kind of what drew us to do something a little different in the floral industry."

Moss provides a variety of flowers grown locally. Behind every item in the shop is a story behind it. There's even a reason behind one of their new and unique services – a subscription to their flowers.

"We have always loved the idea of subscriptions because we were trying to make it easy for people who have really great intentions but not time," Lissner said. "We help them get their dates, and it just is really easy. They get to have beautiful flowers sent whenever they told us," Lissner said.

Subscriptions aren’t the only thing they do. Moss offers a variety of services that go beyond just flowers. They help you find plants that will thrive in your space and even offer classes for the East Texas community.

"We love getting our community together, meeting our customers, and meeting people who aren’t even our customers," Lissner said. "Creating something together, it just brings people together."

So whether it's sending flowers with a subscription, picking the perfect plant, or taking one of their classes, Lissner said they're happy to be where they are, helping others and continuing to grow.
