CHIEFS DAY: Whitehouse ISD wears red, gold in support of Patrick Mahomes' first Super Bowl

Students and teachers at Whitehouse ISD wore red and gold on Friday, in support of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

WHITEHOUSE, Texas —

In honor of the Super Bowl LIV this weekend, students at Whitehouse ISD participated in Chiefs Day on Friday.

CBS19 stopped by Gus Cain and Holloway Elementary schools, where students dressed up in Kansas City Chiefs colors to support Whitehouse alum Patrick Mahomes.

A P.E. coach at Holloway Elementary even created an indoor game that represent Mahomes and how he plays on the field.

“Well this game is called perfect pass, and our students are here trying to throw the perfect pass to our students at the other end,” Holly Drain, the 6th grade P.E. coach said. “We figured of all people, Patrick can throw the perfect pass, so we're going to work on our throwing skills today and incorporate it into this weekend's activities."

Drain says it's what Mahomes does off the field that she wants the kids to take away.

“Every time the guy performs, everything he says and does is exactly what we want to see in our students as well,” Drain said.

Megan Strickland, a third grade teacher at Cain Elementary was born in Kansas City, Missouri and says she's excited to see Mahomes in the Super Bowl.

"It's really exciting," Cain said. "Especially because my family does live far away, so to be able to say hey the town I live in and work in is rooting yall on, we're excited and rotting with you is a lot of fun."
