CBS19 WEATHER: A soggy Mother's Day forecast

Check out the latest forecast from the CBS19 Weather Experts.

TYLER, Texas — Good evening East Texas,

After a mostly dry start to the weekend, the cloudy skies will finally give way to some rain and storms.  While Mother's Day plans may need to be moved indoors, the real chance for severe storms will be Monday. Unfortunately, this means the threat of hail, strong wind gusts, and more heavy rain bringing scattered areas of flooding.

Here's your forecast:

SUNDAY:

Like I mentioned, make sure any Mother's Day plans are moved indoors, almost all of the Piney Woods are sure to see rain Sunday. Some areas could see 1-2+ inches of rainfall on Sunday alone, starting around 10 and raining until bout 7 P.M. During the day, rumbles of thunder with pockets of heavy downpours will be moving through the area, and for that reason we have all of East Texas under a slight/marginal excessive rainfall outlook, as well as most of East Texas (from I-20, South) under a Flood watch until Monday at 7 A.M. The main threat from this system is just the heavy rainfall.

MONDAY:

The flood watch continues into Morning morning, but even after expiring at 7 A.M, showers and storms will scatter through East Texas into the afternoon. Right now, most of East Texas is under a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather on Monday. The main threats from these storms  will be heavy rain again, this time with large hail and gusty winds possible. Make sure you are checking back on CBS19 for the latest updates.

TUESDAY:

Once the storms clear, Tuesday will be a beautiful day! The sun will shine again, and temperatures will be back in the low 80s. A Northwest wind will help keep the muggy meter on the lower side after all that rainfall.
