Serving Orphans Worldwide bike tour visits East Texas

A group of bike riders who are making a journey across America raising awareness about orphans and adoption made a stop at Rose Heights Church on Sunday.

It is estimated that 153 million children worldwide are orphans.

Serving Orphans Worldwide's mission is to reduce that number and ultimately live in a world without orphans.

The organization raises awareness about the issue by traveling the world and opening doors to help those who have no where to go.

The World Without Orphans Bike Tour is a ride from Los Angeles to Miami, a total of 2,600 miles and is one of the ways the organization spreads awareness.

The group led by Gennadiy Mokhnenko, got started riding in 2011 riding across the former Soviet Union. Today, they have completed routes across Asia and Europe and now are making their way across North America.

Thanks to the group, thousands of children have been placed into forever families as a result of their efforts.

The group has 10 more stops before completing their North American tour.
