Officials from the East Texas Coaches Association (ETCA) on Thursday announced the seven exceptional individuals, representing the sport of football, who will be honored during the 2020 ETCA Hall of Honor banquet.
Hall of Honor inductees include:
- Matt Turner - Former head football coach and athletic director at Gilmer
- Ben Scharnberg - Former head football coach and athletic director at Atlanta
Other honorees include:
- Jack Stallard - Longview News-Journal Sports Editor (Distinguished Service Award)
- Ted Thompson - Atlanta High School, Southern Methodist University, Houston Oilers (General Manager for the Green Bay Packers)
- Darin Lair - High school official, East Texas Chapter (Officials Hall of Honor)
- Scott Surratt - Head football coach and athletic director at Carthage (4A DI UIL State Championship)
- Josh Gibson - Head football coach and athletic director at Pleasant Grove (4A DII State Championship)
The East Texas Coaches Association supports coaches, parents, and student athletes through the promotion of football in East Texas; professional development for coaches; provision of scholarships and financial aid to coaches in times of personal tragedy.
The ETCA Hall of Honor Banquet will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 6 p.m., at Northridge Country Club, located at 120 Bill Rogers Drive in Texarkana.
