KILGORE, Texas — A Kilgore man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for murdering his cousin on Christmas Eve 2017.
According to the Kilgore News Herald, Marvin Durrell Sanders, 38, received his sentence on Wednesday in a Rusk County courtroom.
Sanders fatally shot his cousin Waylon Hunt, 37, also of Kilgore, in the head during a family gathering on December 24, 2017.
During court proceedings, the Kilgore News Herald reports Sanders changed his plea mid-trial after evidence linking him to the murder weapon was presented.
