STATESVILLE, N.C. — The City of Statesville, North Carolina, has filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction to require Gander RV to take down their American flag.

According to Camping World, the parent company of Gander RV, the city is imposing a $50 per day fine retroactive to October 15, 2018.

WSOC reports the city's lawsuit states a flag within 100' of a highway cannot exceed 25'x40'.

"Many cities like Statesville have requested that Camping World and Gander Outdoors take down their American Flags," a Facebook post from Camping World says. "We won't do it! Stand with us."

Camping World says this is about more than just a flag.

"This is about our veterans, military and the men and women that have sacrificed for this great country," Camping World said. :They are the reason we fly the flag and they are the reason we will not take it down!"

The company has started a petition on Change.org to get signatures from supporters.

“I don’t care if it goes to $500 a day," Camping World CEO Marcus Lemonis said in an interview with WSOC. "It's not coming down."
