Unable to receive a signal from Tyler's weather radio station? Here's why:

The antenna was damaged during a storm and currently, NOAA does not have a date when the service will be returned.

TYLER, Texas — Receiving the latest weather updates during warned storms is crucial, and many of you rely on NOAA's Weather radio stations (NWR) for information.

Lately, a few of you have called and asked: Why am I getting no reception from the Tyler transmitter?

The Tyler weather transmitter on the frequency 162.475 is out of service due to a damaged antenna. Ironically, the antenna was damaged during a storm and currently, NOAA does not have a date when the service will be returned.

Tyler's NWR is operated by the Shreveport, LA NWS office and broadcasts to several surrounding counties including Anderson, Cherokee, Gregg, Henderson, Rusk, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt and Wood.

Until the antenna returns to operation, try using these other local stations listed below for your weather information:

  • Shreveport 162.400
  • Palestine 162.450
  • Gilmer 162.425
  • Cumby 162.500
  • Center 162.525
