TYLER, Texas — East Texans are cleaning up the mess left by a storm with heavy rains and strong winds after it passed through Sunday night.
Knollwood homeowner Stephen Graff said as the storm was passing, he could see a tree had fallen in front of his house. But it wasn't until the morning that he realized the cemented walkway in front of his house had lifted when the tree fell.
"This is a really high dollar fix up. I also got some damage in the backyard to downed limbs and a split tree," Graff said.
Graff has experienced trees falling in severe weather before but not to this magnitude. He said luckily the way the tree fell; it did not cause any significant damage to his roof.
However, that wasn’t the case for some homeowners.
Co-owner of Stonewater Roofing, Jacob Law said a lot of people have damaged shingles and gutters from the strong winds.
"It started very early, but the entire East Texas area that we service has been damaged," Law said.
He said if you have experienced damage to your roof, it’s important to call a trusted roofing company to come do an inspection.
