Frankston community comes together after severe storm leaves 2 dead, causes significant damage

"We'll just pull together as a city, as we always do, and put in the hard work and get everything cleaned up," Frankston City Secretary Kelli Landreth-Smith said.

FRANKSTON, Texas — Severe storms overnight in Anderson County caused some serious destruction to the Frankston area, leading to the death of a 33-year-old man and 29-year-old woman.

According to Anderson County Sheriff Rudy Flores, their bodies were found early Friday morning off County Road 3000 near Frankston.

Frankston City Secretary Kelli Landreth-Smith said the community knew the family very well.

"It affects everyone, our hearts and prayers go out to their family, their friends, their children," Landreth-Smith said.

Landreth-Smith said when a storm like this comes, they usually send out warnings beforehand so the city and citizens can prepare, but that wasn’t the case this time.

"Unfortunately, we weren't prepared for it. We had not had any warning of anything other than a thunderstorm," Landreth-Smith said.

Straight line winds from the storm knocked down trees, took out power and caused some roof damage to structures.

Landreth-Smith noted emergency crews, the Frankston Police Department and volunteer firefighters were out all night clearing trees and debris.

She said the Frankston community will continue to lean on each other during this time.

"We'll just pull together as a city, as we always do, and put in the hard work and get everything cleaned up," Landreth-Smith said.

CBS19 will continue to make updates as more information comes in about the storm damage.
