TYLER, Texas — The 14th named storm of the season is expected to form this weekend near the Yucatan Peninsula.
The National Hurricane Center's Friday afternoon advisory measured sustained winds within the storm at 35 mph. That's just four miles away from winds being strong enough to classify the storm as a tropical storm. The weather conditions in the southern Caribbean will support a quick spin up to tropical storm by early Saturday morning.
Steering winds, water temperature and tropical energy all support the forecast of this system moving on-shore in southern Mexico and Central America through the weekend.
