TYLER, Texas — The Great American Eclipse is now less than two weeks away. Monday, April 8 will be a day featuring many never before seen sights for many who have never witnessed a total solar eclipse.
One of the most fascinating phenomena that could be seen will be something called Baily's Beads.
What are Baily's Beads? Baily's Beads refers to the row of brilliant points of sunlight shining through valleys on the edge of the moon that are seen for a few seconds before and after the central phase of a solar eclipse.
They're named after the English astronomer Francis Baily, who first described them in 1836.
