TYLER, Texas — Temperatures are expected to hit triple digits this weekend and one Tyler air conditioning repair company is already seeing an influx of customers.
"Were definitely running at 100 miles per hour; staying late," said John Tirado, field supervisor at C. Woods Company.
Texas heat is back which means electricians and ACs are working overtime.
Tirado says the best temperature to keep your home cool at this time of year ranges between 70 to 76 degrees.
If you turn it on and notice it's not blowing as strong as it used to, Tirado said you're not alone.
"Today we had a drain line that wasn't draining and it float switched which was keeping it from turning on," Tirado said.
He said this is a common issue due to the high level of moisture in the air and moisture created by the AC units.
Tirado said another issue stems from lack of maintenance on cleaning condenser coils. He says once or twice a year, it will help improve the power of the ac unit.
Tirado said this problem and any other ground level AC unit problem that does not involve electric can be a D.I.Y. fix and won't put a dent in your wallet. However, if you tend to turn your AC off before you leave your home, C. Woods Company said that might not be the best option.
"You're going to come back to an 80 degree home so that's not recommended because it'll work 2-3 hours trying to achieve that," Tirado said.
He said it's best to keep your AC on a few degrees higher while your away from home.
