Police reopen lanes after pedestrian crash Loop 323, South Broadway in Tyler

According to the TPD spokesperson Andy Erbaugh, the pedestrian is alert and awake but was taken to a local hospital in serious condition.

TYLER, Texas — Police close two lanes on Loop 323 after a pedestrian crash in Tyler Wednesday evening.

According to the Tyler Police Department spokesperson Andy Erbaugh, a call was received about a pedestrian crash on the 4400 Block of South Broadway Avenue around 6:45 p.m.

Erbaugh said a pedestrian was trying to cross Loop 323 from First Christian Church to the French Quarter Shopping Center parking lot when the pedestrian was struck by a car driving east on the Loop. The pedestrian was not walking on a crosswalk, police said.

The driver of the car stoped after striking the pedestrian and remained on the scene, police said.

The pedestrian is alert and awake but was taken to a local hospital in serious condition, Erbaugh said.

Earlier, two eastbound lanes on Loop 323 were closed but all lanes are now reopened, police said.

Officials continue to investigate the crash.
