WHITEHOUSE, Texas — Officials have closed County Road 2173 due to icy conditions that caused a crash in Whitehouse Tuesday afternoon.
According to Smith County engineer Frank Davis, part of the CR 2173, also known as Carl Dowdy Road, is closed to drivers after multiple people ended up in a crash due to ice on the road.
Davis said a 90-degree turn while going downhill on CR 2173 did not have a chance to melt like other roads did due to a section of the road remaining in the shade today.
Police reported this section caused several people to end up in a crash when they tried to drive in this part of the CR 2173.
The Smith County Road and Bridge Department barricaded CR 2173 beginning from Willingham Road to Paluxy Road (FM 756).
There is not an estimated time when the road will be reopened.
