OFFICIALS: 1 dead in 2-vehicle crash on SH 64 in Van Zandt County

Officials said a pickup truck that was towing a trailer was making a stop to make a left turn that's when a car hit the rear of the trailer.

VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas — One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 64 in Van Zandt County Thursday afternoon.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Chris Williamson, a 2023 Dodge Ram 5200 pickup truck was towning a trailer on SH 64 when a 1994 Nissan XE hit the rear of the trailer as the truck slowed down to make a left turn onto VZ Country Road 4913. 

Officials said the Nissan driver Patsy Hall Franklin, 82, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The driver and passenger in the truck were not injured, officials said.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing.
