21st annual Tyler Turkey Trot sells out with 1,800 participants

Although the event is sold out, race organizers will allow last-minute runners to participate.

TYLER, Texas — Grab your running shoes and be prepared to run in Tyler's Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day Thursday morning.

The 21st annual Turkey Trot is officially sold out with 1,800 registered participants. The race organizers said they will have a modified registration if friends and family still want to participate but will not be able to get a t-shirt or a finisher medal.

The kids' race is set to start at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K race will start at 9 a.m.

The race route will start and finish in the back parking lot of the Racquet and Jog store. The race route will go through several neighborhoods and roads will be closed. 

Safety officers and emergency personnel will be along the route to ensure the safety of all participants. 

Below is a list of road closures:

  • Rieck Road to Hollytree Drive
  • Spring Branch Drive
  • Wimbledon Dive
  • Part of Hollytree Drive (Starting from Wimbledon Drive all the way to Rice Rd.)
  • Part of Rice Rd. (Starting from Hollytree Dr. to Briarcove Drive)
  • Part of Briarcove Dr. (starting from Rice Road to Rieck Road)
  • The intersection of Old Bullard Rd./Rieck Rd. to Old Bullard Rd./Gateridge Rd.
  • Part of Plantation Dr. (starting from Wimbledon Drive to Spring Branch Drive

Participants can pick up their packets at Racquet & Jog on these dates and times:

  •  Nov. 22 noon to 6 p.m. 
  • Nov. 23 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.

On the day of the race, participants can park at the Broadway Crossing parking lot and use the crosswalk to walk over to the event site.

Dogs are allowed to participate in the race as long as they're well-behaved and on a leash.
