TYLER, Texas — Editor's Note: Dr. Susan McBride of the UT Tyler School of Nursing was originally scheduled to speak at the symposium, but will no longer be in attendance.
Dr. Andrea Cooley will be representing the UT Tyler School of Medicine at the inaugural University of Texas System AI Symposium in Health Care at the UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas this Thursday and Friday.
Cooley will host the "Equity by Design: A Blueprint for AI-Driven Healthcare Transformation" and chair the "Leveraging AI to Facilitate Precision Education" sessions.
The following institutions will be participating in the symposium:

- UT Austin
- UTHealth Houston
- UT Health San Antonio
- The University of Texas Medical Branch
- UT Tyler School of Medicine
- The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine
As part of the panel, experts in artificial intelligence from across the UT System will explore the emergence of AI and its uses in health care and patient treatment. The University of Texas System said that state lawmakers will also be in attendance to discuss the best approach to regulating AI as an emerging technology.
Opening remarks will begin at the Tom and Lula Gooch Auditorium at the UT Southwestern Medical Center on Thursday at 1 p.m. Those looking to attend can participate in-person at the campus or join the discussion virtually via Zoom.
