VAN, Texas — Friday's matchup between rivals Van and Lindale came down to the wire -- which is no surprise to anyone who's watched the game the last three years. The Vandals secured a close win over No. 7 Lindale 28-23.
Van brothers Jaxon and Austin Moffatt combined for four touchdowns, while receiver Caden Rowe chipped in with a game-high six catches for 126 yards.
The Vandals have an experienced team with players like the Moffatt brothers, Rowe and and Easton Hinch all in their senior season. The Vandals were 1-1 coming into the game, sitting at No. 11 in the #bEASTTexas Fabulous 15 poll. The Lindale Eagles were undefeated and came in at No. 7 in the poll.
Van head coach Jared Moffatt doesn't think this win alone gives his team confidence.
"I've been at Van for 15 years," Moffatt said. "The kids don't often lack confidence. They believe in themselves," said Coach Moffatt." But when we've been in three one-score games, they have been tough four quarters physical football, and we've found a way to win two of them, you draw confidence from that."
Van will face Sunnyvale Friday at 7 p.m.
