NACOGDOCHES - Thomas Walkup is arguably one of the top 5 players in SFA history and is likely the school's best player since they joined Division 1.
After graduating, Walkup spent a year in the G-League, then spent last year in Germany, where he had a very successful season. Last week, he signed a contract to play in Lithuania next year and he says it's a great thing getting to see the world and play the game he loves.
Walkup says, "I'm super lucky that I get to do this. I get to play basketball and it's fun adopting other cultures and widening my vision on life and so I've really enjoyed it this year."
He's been back at his alma mater for a few days, helping out with some basketball camps. And getting a chance to come back to the place where he had his biggest successes is something he'll do as often as he can.
Walkup adds, "This is where my roots are. To be back here and see a lot of familiar faces people that helped me grow, people that helped me become the person I am today, it's very, very special."
