COLLEGE STATION, Texas — After much anticipation and rumors that Kyle Field would be the setting for a match, the international friendly between the Brazilian and Mexican men's national soccer teams will take place in College Station on June 8.

Ticket sales for the match will open to the public on April 5 at 10 a.m. and will be done through SomosLocales.com. Those that are looking to attend the match are encouraged to pre-register on the website.

The match is set to start at 7:30 p.m., according to a post from the Texas A&M University Division of Marketing and Communications on Texas A&M Today.

In addition to both fanbases being very passionate about their national teams, the match has the potential to break a previously set attendance record from 2010, when Mexico and New Zealand met in the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA for a match on the MexTour, a series of matches that the Mexican men's national soccer team plays in the U.S. to connect with its fans that would otherwise be unable to see the team in person.

Kyle Field's capacity of 102,733 has the opportunity to surpass the previously set record of 90,526 that has stood for over a decade.

"This is outstanding news for Texas A&M University. We are excited to host this international event.  It is my hope that we can establish a record-setting crowd to watch this exciting soccer match at Kyle Field," said Interim Athletics Director R.C. Slocum in a statement

“Kyle Field — a beacon of collegiate sporting excellence — is more than a football stadium. It’s a special place where memories are made and legends are born. It creates an electric atmosphere that fuels players and fans alike,” said Texas A&M University President Mark A. Welsh III in a statement. “We in Aggieland are ready to welcome the Brazil and Mexico teams and their fans with a warm ‘Howdy!’ this summer for what promises to be an unforgettable experience for all.”

Other games scheduled to be played on the MexTour include:

  • May 31 against Bolivia at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL
  • June 5 against Uruguay at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, CO
  • Sept. 7 against New Zealand at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, CA
  • Sept. 10 against Canada at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX
