AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Women’s Basketball’s Rori Harmon tore her ACL on Dec. 27. Since then, she's been on a road to recovery.
Now, nearly six months post-surgery, Harmon is starting to feel like herself again.
"Truthfully, I kind of feel normal at this moment. But during that process, it was kind of difficult to see that I physically couldn't do certain things," Harmon said.
Harmon said she recently began seeing the fruits of her hard work. Being able to compete in the team's combine and testing out her vertical were huge milestones in her recovery process.
"I remember catching myself standing there, thinking about it," Harmon said, describing her emotions before jumping for her vertical test.
Throughout the process, Harmon said she has had multiple mental battles. Whether she's won or lost them, one thing has stayed consistent: Texas women's basketball head coach Vic Schaefer
"For him to be there the whole time – he's almost at all my appointments when he can," Harmon said. "It's like I'm almost speechless because I'm really grateful."
That humble attitude doesn't negate Harmon's hunger to get back on the court. She's excited to join a squad that reached the Elite Eight a season ago, while returning numerous key pieces.
And if you ask Longhorn fans, they're excited to see the former Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year too.
