LONGVIEW, Texas — Tommy Aldridge started the Longview High School Lady Lobos basketball program nearly 50 years ago. Under his guidance, the team earned a state championship, 25 district titles, 19 30-win seasons and 900 total victories.
Now, Aldridge will be inducted into the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame in 2025 for his accomplishments. He is one of four coaches and four standout players getting recognized for their achievements on the court and influence on basketball in Texas.
"It puts Longview back in the spotlight and it's much deserved," Longview News-Journal sports editor Jack Stallard said. "I can't think of a more deserving person."
His first game as the Lady Lobos’ coach was a 76-33 loss to Center on Nov. 21, 1978. His first win came three days later, a 60-34 win over Gladewater, Stallard wrote in a Longview News-Journal article.
The induction ceremony is set for May 10, 2025, in San Antonio.
