4 East Texas soccer teams advance to the UIL regional tournament

The UIL regional soccer tournaments will start on Friday, April 5.

TYLER, Texas — Four East Texas soccer teams are still alive in the UIL playoffs. 

6A Boys

Tyler Legacy boys soccer team will play in the regional tournament for the first time since 2012 after defeating Dallas Skyline 1-0 on Tuesday night. 

Knox Hicks scored the lone goal with an assist from Erick Mendez. The Red Raiders will play Cypress Woods in Round Rock at 11 a.m. on April 5. 

4A Boys

Kilgore defeated Jacksonville 1-0 on Tuesday to advance to the regional tournament. 

Aiden Reyes scored the only goal of the match. Kilgore will face Wilmer-Hutchins in the regional semi-final at 11 a.m. on April 5 at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler. 

Palestine is headed back to the regional tournament following a 3-2 win over Chapel Hill on Tuesday.

Tony Sanchez scored all three goals for Palestine who were down 2-0 in the first half before storming back. The Wildcats will face Panther Creek at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler. 

4A Girls

The Jacksonville Maidens defeated Athens 4-1 to advance to the girls 4A regional tournament. 

The Maidens will take on Celina at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 5 at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium in Tyler.
