Jefferson remains undefeated after 66-0 win over White Oak

The Jefferson bulldogs are under new head coach Ty Taylor and they haven't missed a beat

JEFFERSON, Texas — The Jefferson Bulldogs improved their season to 7-0 after their 66-0 win over the White Oak Roughnecks.

The Bulldogs have a new head coach this year; Ty Taylor was an assistant at Pleasant Grove before taking over at  Jefferson.

The Bulldogs finished 7-3 last season, so getting off to a good start isn't unusual for them. With that being said, players needing to adjust to a new coach sometimes takes time, causing a down year in the programs' success.

"They believe in what we're trying to do as coaches and as a coaching staff, and that's because we spend a lot of time with them. We pour into them," said Coach Taylor. "Even outside of school and outside of practice, we're spending time with them and doing things with them to continue to build those relationships."

Coach Taylor spoke a lot abut buying into the new program's teachings and getting the players to trust him. Taylor built trust by staying consistent and meeting the players where they were to effectively communicate with them.

"I started from day one, by identifying who the leaders were, and talking with them," said Coach Taylor. "I think having a clear set of direction and vision, and  our core values, which are; relationships, growth, discipline, belief."

Jefferson has multiple playmakers like quarterback Tihmyus Taylor who leads the team in passing touchdowns, and Kamran Williams has 200 rushing yards per game, and 17 total touchdowns. They largely impacted the 66-0 win over White Oak last week.

The Bulldogs are now on a bye week and will play again next week against Sabine.
